What it means

Slovensko.sk is the central public administration portal through which citizens and businesses deal with the state electronically. It is used to file electronic submissions, receive official decisions in the electronic mailbox, sign documents and find services of individual authorities.

Sign-in uses the chip ID card with a personal security code or another recognised means of electronic identification. Submissions are signed with a qualified electronic signature, also created with the eID card.

Every legal entity entered in the Commercial Register has an electronic mailbox activated for delivery by law. Authorities deliver decisions, notices and payment assessments to it, and delivery has the same effect as a registered letter handed over in person.

How it works in practice

We help clients set up mailbox access so that several people monitor it and nothing gets missed. The director can grant access to employees or the accounting firm, and a mandate certificate is also used when acting under a power of attorney.

We recommend turning on email or mobile notifications for new messages. A notification is not delivery itself, but it signals that something is waiting. The message must then be opened, saved outside the portal and dealt with in time.

Many filings, such as changes in the Commercial or Trade Register, can be made directly through Slovensko.sk or specialised portals linked to it. Tax filings go through the financial administration portal, which has its own login and electronic mailbox.

What to watch out for

The greatest risk is deemed delivery. If the company does not collect a message from the mailbox, it is treated as delivered once the statutory period expires, even if nobody opened it. Deadlines for appeals or payment then run from that day, possibly without the company knowing.

When the director changes, remember mailbox access too. The new director gets access only after registration, and the former director may still hold permissions. When an employee leaves or the accounting firm changes, permissions must be updated.
